Little Rock, Arkansas - As I always say, it's just another day in paradise. I'm Charles Sooby and I was born February 23, 1954 in Larned, Kansas to James Harold and Dorthea Alice Sooby. We moved to Dallas, Texas when I was in second grade and I lived most of my life in Dallas and Shreveport. I went peacefully to rest at Arkansas Hospice Inpatient in Little Rock on February 10, 2012, surrounded by my loving family.
I attended the University of Texas and received my Bachelors of Arts in Journalism at North Texas State University. I was lucky to work for H&E Equipment Services as a salesman and manager for 27 years; they are my second family.
My father and grandparents preceded me in death. I am survived by my wife, Rhonda Wolfe Sooby, my daughter, Elizabeth Sooby of College Station, TX, my two stepsons, Austin and Clay Lohnes of Shreveport, LA, and my mother Dorthea Sooby of Carrollton, Texas, and our Labrador Dixie. I am also survived by my brother, Bill Struble of Lawrence, KS, my three sisters: Jane Pelzl and her husband Joel of New Braunfels, TX, Alice Friend and her husband Eric of The Colony, TX, and Gerry Nichols and her husband Doug of Carrollton, TX, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
My favorite local charities are Providence House and Habitat for Humanity in Shreveport, LA. If you'd like to make a donation in my memory, I'd be thrilled.
10-4 good buddy, over and out.
